Puddles O' Drool

Oh for the love! 2 year molars are officially on my list! Will I ever get my lovey, happy, giggly, playful boy back? I can't even imagine the anguish he is going through. 1 molar has officially popped out, another is right under the gum & on the verge of breaking through...the other 2 are a mystery. I'm looking forward to no more teething. Rumor has it that this could be the last of it for years and I am happy dancing as I type.

I think I've read more about teething and teething symptoms for toddlers over the last 2 weeks than there is coverage of the Olympics (which by the way...USA still in lead with most Gold!)

I hate how Dr's contradict each other when it comes to teething causing fevers, runny noses, or any other random virus symptom your child gets just before a tooth breaks skin.

I like to call it the $10 conspiracy. You Kaiser members know exactly what I'm talking about. Kaiser has a habit of insisting everything is a virus & nothing can take it away except Ibuprofen. And you find out this wealth of knowledge only after you pay the glorious $10 co-pay.

My son had 3 days of low grade (100 - 101) fevers followed by 2 days of fevers ranging from 101 to 103 right before molar # 1 popped out. He had said fevers without any other symptoms for 3 or 4 days...then comes the congestion & the drool factory. I almost regressed to bibs, but his little neck was too big for the ones I had on hand.

For the 3 or 4 days when fever was the only symptom of something being wrong with my child (well, fever and crankiness, and irritability...) Kaiser Advice Nurses were pretty stumped by this but insisted I bring my son in to rule out Meningitis. (Hello Advice Nurses...the Puddle O' Drool I kept referring to in each of my calls was not clue # 1 what he was going through?!?!) I'm sure each advice nurse was fairly irritated that I kept bringing up the teething as a possible guilty party for the fever, but let's face it...all other symptoms of Meningitis did not apply in our situation...so let's continue to trouble shoot together.

When the fever finally broke...so did Josh's gum and Viola! Molar # 1 made an appearance. Coincidence...I think not.

Rule # 1 of teething...every baby is different. No child will react exactly the same. There is no perfect example to follow. I will say there is a wealth of knowledge out there via Google search...and I now consider myself a teething specialist.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I think the worst is over. I think now that the 1st molar has broken through, Joshua has also learned to cope with the pain a little easier and the next time he feels it (which can literally be at any time,) it won't be so foreign to him & hopefully he can express where it hurts so we can be ready with Tylenol & teething tablets in hand.

Ahhhh, a new year...

So...it's been over a year since I created this blog. Shame on me for having the best intentions and lacking the follow through to make it a priority to keep up to date. My 2010 commitment is to do a post a week (or a really good post every 2 weeks.) Again, best intentions here - but life happens.

Here's a light hearted way to start it off:

So here are the directions:1.Put your iTunes/music player on "Shuffle"
2.For each question, press the "Next" button to get your answer
3.You MUST write down the name of THAT SONG no matter what. (aka NO CHEATING!)

Okay, kids. Here we go...
IF SOMEONE SAYS “IS THIS OKAY” YOU SAY? One - Linkin Park & Jay Z remix...yep, because that's how I roll :)

WHAT WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY? Dive In - Dave Matthews Band...story of my life. I do tend to Dive In...I fall into the moment - not thinking sometimes of the full consequence/outcome. But, this Diving In is really only in Deniseland, I am very calculated in decison making with Josh...and of course I also put Geoff at the forefront of m y mind in all decisions.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY? Half the Man I Used to be - Nirvana...there is something I do love about a man who takes matters into his own hands. I'm sure Kurt was talking about killing himself, where my husband would take other matters, like the security of his family, into his own hands.

HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? So Fly - 213...I will admit there are many times throughout the day I sing the hook of this song in my head :) Love it!

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE? Only You - 112...hmmmm, it should've been Only my Husband & Son lol!

WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO? Perfect - Alanis Morisette...enough said

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? Only God Knows Why - Kid Rock...and I put all my faith into it.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR PARENTS? Be Yourself - Audioslave...ironically growing up I felt like I could be anyone but myself. Now, as an adult, I see them in a different light & could never imagine being anyone but me.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT VERY OFTEN? Higher - Creed...I do often think that there has to be a better place out there. A place to forever keep my son safe from "Stranger Danger" and all the bad this world has to offer. A place to forever let me pick him up & snuggle no matter how old/big he is.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR BEST FRIEND? Badfish - Sublime...really!?!?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE? Rock'n Me - Steve Miller Band...I'm gonna keep this G rated people! Let's just say I love my husband more than anything & we have a healthy relationship.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE STORY? Right Now - Van Halen...Kinda goes back to the whole Dive In as my description of my personality. I love my life, the paths I've chosen, the life I'm living. I am blessed, not lucky...blessed. I am also grateful, every day for so many things and people in my life...Right Now.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP? Stupid Girls - Pink...And I think I've grown up to be the exact opposite. I don't live in a foggy cloud...I live with the real world in my face daily (please reference back to Higher)

WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE? Whatever You Like - T.I...He is my best friend, my confidant, my love. Whatever I can do for him to make his day better, make his load lighter, make the journey that much more fun...I'll do it. It's my job, and I take it seriously lol.

WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU? Sing for the Moment - Eminem...Growing up, I was so that girl. They always made me feel like I only had 1 shot. Again, as an adult I can see there were times when I really did only have that 1 shot, but there were other things that I was able to do over and give it my best.

WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING? So Far Away - Staind...love, love, Love this song! Also, a true testament of how I've grown as a woman, as a person...

WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL? Never Too Late - Three Days Grace...enough said

WHAT IS YOUR HOBBY/INTEREST? Tomorrow Morning - Jack Johnson...I do have an interest in what's next :)

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET? Poker Face - Lady GaGa...She is my secret obsession...I am a self proclaimed GaGa-holic :)

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS? Out of My Hands - Dave Matthews Band...love them, but I am not them. We are each different people and are responsible for ourselves when we're out.

WHAT SHOULD YOU POST THIS AS? Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles...it is kind of refreshing to read :) May this blog be the first of many more for this year...may I stay committed to this commitment :)

so here we are...

Life at times gets so busy (especially running after Joshua) and we don't always get to keep everyone up to date on what's new in the Fingado household. Geoffrey and I decided that by creating a blog, it's like having the easiest connection to all of our family and friends! Where to begin...

With the holidays coming up, and this being Joshua's 1st Christmas, the Fingado household is filled with Christmas cheer! Our tree is up (and fully decorated), and all of our gifts are wrapped and under the tree! Yes, you heard me, ALL of our gifts...our holiday shopping is done! We were able to get our shopping done on Black Friday (yep, we were amongst those "crazy's" who were out in the wee hours of the morning to get the best deals of the season!) Geoff and I had the pleasure of shopping with most of the Harris Family (Aunt Patti and cousins Brian, Brigette, Kyle, and Jennifer) The ladies took on the chaos at the Folsom Outlets Midnight Madness, and the guys took on the pandemonium with the early bird specials and door busters! The stressful part of the holiday season has been taken care of, so we will be able to just enjoy every weekend together as a family.

This holiday season is extra special, as the Lopez & the Burrows families will be in Sacramento to help in celebrating Grandma Andrea's 80th birthday. This will be the 1st Christmas in a while that we've all been together! So we look forward to many Uno matches as well as just quality family time coming up soon!
